Welcome to Sir Roger Manwood’s Grammar School.

Here, we support our students to flourish through a broad and challenging curriculum and access to a range of exciting extra-curricular activities.

Since 1563, the school has been serving the community by providing an exceptional educational experience for local children. Having relocated in 1895, the students who attend the school continue to benefit from a spacious site with beautiful grounds, including modern sports facilities, in an environment where tradition meets modernity. 

SRMS is an inclusive community, and our pastoral teams and expert teachers work closely with each of our students to help them develop into individuals who are academically, socially and personally ready for the future. Through our mission statement, students are encouraged to engage with what is on offer at the school in order to explore and develop all aspects of their character with the goal of them becoming confident, independent young people who will excel at whatever they decide to do in life.

The notion of excellence runs through all aspects of life at SRMS and not only do pupils perform highly in public exams, but we also foster and celebrate creativity through a broad range of extra-curricular experiences in drama, music and the arts. In addition, our students have ample opportunities to develop key skills in teamwork, communication, leadership and service through participation in sport, enrichment clubs, The Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Combined Cadet Force.

All of this creates a stimulating, safe and welcoming community in which children can be themselves and are supported to achieve their potential.
