Our Vision
Our vision
Sir Roger Manwood’s School aims to be a first-choice destination in Kent, with a reputation for excellence.
It aims to do this by:
- Delivering an exceptional holistic education tailored to meet the needs of each individual during their secondary journey.
- Recruiting top-tier talent at every level to support the successful delivery of our vision.
- Pursuing opportunities to enhance the quality of our work and the effectiveness of our practices.
- Maintaining financial strength and resilience to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality education, both now and in the future
At Sir Roger Manwood’s School our guiding principle is simple yet powerful: Excellence in All.
Founded in 1563, our school stands proudly on more than 460 years of history and tradition. We are deeply rooted in our heritage, yet we are a school that looks forward with ambition. While we honour our past, we are firmly focused on the future — on innovation, opportunity, and preparing our young people to thrive in a world that is constantly evolving.
When students join our community, they become part of a well-mannered, respectful, and supportive environment. Our core values — Responsibility, Respect, Resilience, Compassion, and Creativity — are at the heart of all we do. They shape the way we learn, the way we treat one another, and the way we work together as a community.
We believe that every pupil who walks through our doors has the potential to achieve excellence through dedication, curiosity, and consistent effort. Our experienced, passionate, and knowledgeable staff are here to guide, challenge, and inspire every learner to reach their full potential.
Our educational philosophy — Engage… Explore… Excel… — captures our approach to learning. We encourage pupils to engage fully in their studies, to explore new ideas with curiosity and independence, and to excel by striving for their personal best in all that they do.
Yet, excellence extends beyond the classroom. Through a rich programme of extracurricular opportunities — from sport and music to drama, leadership opportunities, and clubs — pupils develop confidence, build friendships, and discover new passions.

The Manwood’s experience from a student’s perspective:
“...that’s why I love Manwood’s ... there are always so many things to get involved in that each year is more rewarding than the last … one of my favourite things … is its sense of community; everyone looks after one another and the passion and kindness of the staff rub off on the students.”
