Friends of Manwood’s

Friends of Manwood’s

The Friends of Manwood’s is a voluntary group of parents who are actively involved in supporting the school, especially through fundraising activities. All parents are welcome to become involved. A committee of parents, together with the Headmaster and the School Business Manager, meets regularly, usually once in each of Terms 1-6.

The Friends are directly involved in raising much-needed and valued additional funds for the school, organising fun and social events which parents and pupils can enjoy. We also support the school by serving refreshments at Open Evenings and the new Year 7 parents’ evening. The Friends assist at school events such as concerts, drama and musical productions and Sports Day by selling refreshments. Additionally we run a 200 Club, and invitations to join the club are regularly emailed to parents.

We hope lots of parents will be able to contribute to the fundraising work of the Friends whether by becoming an active member of the group, donating gifts and prizes, joining the 200 Club or attending our events.

If you would like to become part of the organising committee please contact us via the school office or email us direct at Alternatively, just come along to one of our meetings which are notified to parents by email - your support will be very much appreciated.

Fundraising 2015-2016: We are grateful to all pupils, their families and friends and to members of staff who helped us raise funds by supporting and taking part in our events during this year. Along with the long-established Headmaster’s Quiz Night, and a repeat of the Murder Mystery Night, we ran one new event, a very successful Bingo Night in November. Overall, net profits from all our events and refreshment sales at the performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream and other school concerts raised over £3,500. Together with profits from the 200 Club, Friends of Manwood's was able to contribute £4,000 towards the installation of a new sound system for the Sports Hall.
