The Boarding Experience
As a school, we have a long history of boarding. We have two on site boarding facilities, one for boys and one for girls, which are set at the edge of our school grounds. Each house, is considered a home and as such we promote the family atmosphere across the whole of boarding. We provide single, double and triple accomodation in both our houses. The houses are managed day to day by a team of staff including the House Parents, Matron and Residential Tutors, all of whom are experienced boarding and teaching staff.
Boarding is available from Year 7 through to Sixth Form. As a high achieving academic selective school, there is a sound system of communication between the school and the boarding staff, to ensure that homework, studies, exams and work loads are managed effectively throughout a boarders time at the school. With dedicated prep time each evening during the week and on a Sunday, of between 1.5hrs and 2.5hrs, boarders have ample time to ensure they are up to date with their studies and will always have a team of qualified staff available to assist them.
Co Curricular opportunities are extensive for those boarders wishing to take part in activities after school. Each term a timetable of activities are published and students from across the school can enjoy sports, music, arts, languages, sciences, debating, political studies to name only a few. Boarding students are encouraged to take part in at least two clubs per a week, with many enjoying more through access to sports fixtures, choirs, orchestras and the performing arts programme.
